The beaches closest to the villa
Lorient
The nearest beach, about a 5-minute drive away. A long, reef-protected sandy beach, with a calmer part for swimming and another where the waves draw surfers. A few places to eat just across the road.
Grand Cul-de-Sac
A wide, shallow and very calm bay, ideal with children. Steady winds make it the island's spot for kitesurfing, windsurfing and paddleboarding, with rentals on site. Sea turtles are a common sight.
Marigot
A small U-shaped beach inside the marine reserve: calm water, no motorboats, a good snorkeling spot. No facilities, so bring water.
Petit Cul-de-Sac
A wild corner at the far north-east, barely signposted, loved for its calm and its turtles. No facilities.
The island's must-sees
Saline
On the south coast, a large beach that has stayed wild. A few minutes' walk from a small car park. Lovely water for swimming, coral on the left for snorkeling. No facilities.
Gouverneur
A crescent cove beneath the cliffs on the south coast, often quiet. The rocks on the east side are good for snorkeling. Parking close by, no facilities.
Saint-Jean
The liveliest beach, next to the airport: restaurants, beach clubs and shops. Calmer on the east side.
Toiny
The wild coast, facing the wind. Stunning for a walk and popular with surfers, but currents are strong: swimming is not recommended.
