December to April: the dry season
This is high season. Little rain, plenty of sun and trade winds that cool the air: conditions are ideal, and the island is in high demand. Prices are at their highest and you need to book early, especially around school holidays.
The festive season
The week between Christmas and New Year's Day is the liveliest, with fireworks over Gustavia. Everything you need to know is in our guide to Christmas and New Year in St Barts.
March and April: the regattas
In mid-March, the St Barth Bucket brings together large sailing yachts. In April, Les Voiles de Saint-Barth draws dozens of boats for a week of racing. Dates change every year, so check them before you book.
May to July: the quiet season
The crowds leave, the beaches are much calmer and the weather is often fine. Rates drop noticeably compared with winter. For a peaceful stay, this is often the best time.
August to November: the rainy season
The Atlantic hurricane season officially runs from 1 June to 30 November, with a higher risk from August to October. Showers are frequent but often short, and the sea gets close to 30°C. Many hotels and restaurants close from late August until October.
On 24 August the island celebrates its patron saint, Saint-Barthélemy. In November the season slowly picks up again, including the St Barth Gourmet food festival.
Temperatures
Averages are around 26°C in January and 29°C in August. Winter nights stay mild, around 23°C.
And at the villa?
